Sōko Space is an immersive lifestyle experience, combining our Byron Bay Boutique, Apartamento, an artisan florist, organic coffee and art gallery.
Founders Lara & Matt Fells worked with Hayley from Harley Graham Architects to draft the layout of the St. Agni HQ and Byron Bay store and found there was space to spare, so Lara began thinking about local businesses that she loved and would connect to the concept.
“When we found the rundown warehouse it was love at first sight, I could see so much potential in the space.”
They selected Braer, an artisan florist that has always done the flowers for their store and shoots, Yeah Nice Gallery, a space curated by friends of the brand that exhibits a new artist each month, and Daily Counter.
“Daily Counter is a little coffee shop in Brunswick Heads that Matt and I love going to so it made sense when we wanted to invite a cafe to be a part of Sōko Space that it should be them.”
Japanese for warehouse, ‘Sōko’ represents expansive space, something that is both at the core of Byron Bay and almost impossible to find. The name comes from Matt & Lara’s love of the culture, style and spaces.
The space was designed in unison with the UKIYO collection, which has a strong Japanese influence and was specifically inspired by Isamu Noguchi’s Akari series, and you can see the symmetry between the Ukiyo collection and Sōko Space.
