In a time where we are spending more time at home, it is more important than ever to create a safe sanctuary, undisturbed from the world around us. No longer seeking out cities afar, we draw our attention to our own spaces, reinventing what it means to ‘stay in’. Our home should foster a sense of calm, protection, productivity and enjoyment; a multidimensional, multi-emotional space, no one the same.

Follow us as we rediscover Apartamento, our very own St. Agni home in Byron Bay, Australia.

Creating a space purposefully designed to assist in calming and de-stressing is essential for every home. Whether that be a sofa, a reading nook, a bedroom or outside in the garden, this space has been created by you, for you, a space that cancels out the noise. Its purpose is to offer comfort, to move slowly, whether that be to start your day, end your day, or somewhere in between. We start our journey in the living room of Apartamento, distanced from technology and other distractions, gliding through pages of a magazine.
Paired back with a neutral tones and a customised bouclé couch, the Apartamento living space stays true to all things St. Agni; beauty in simplicity.

“We depend on our surroundings obliquely to embody the moods and ideas we respect and then to remind us of them.”

– Alain de Botton (The Architecture of Happiness).

A comfortable space is a liveable space, with both physical and visual ease contributing to clarity of the mind. Guided by minimalism in all that we do at St. Agni, Apartamento is similarly paired back, with simple, curated finishings in neutral tones. Experimenting with decorative rearrangements is a small way you can bring fresh energy into your home. Moving around found objects, candles or flowers offers respite, while dedicating time to periodically rearrange these items is an even better way to maintain personal delight in your everyday space.

Make sure you take the time to move slowly in your home and enjoy your surroundings. Allow yourself time and space.

In both visual and tangible forms, light is an essential element in a space, especially the bedroom. Not only does natural light energise a space and assist with lifting your mood, but light textures provide a sense of comfort and relaxation in a place of rest. Natural fabrics, such as cotton, linen and bamboo make the perfect bedding, as well as curtains or drapes.

The two bedrooms within Apartamento have been designed as sanctuaries within a sanctuary, the most important rooms of the house and where we spend almost half of our lives.

Forming the strongest link to memory and emotion, smell is sensory experience many of us forget about within our own home. Taking the time to seek out the perfect scent could change your entire experience, so we would highly recommend doing so. Whether you are looking for a personal fragrance, oil diffuser, room spray or candle, it is an intimate decision you should allow time for.

Nothing is more important than feeling good within your own home, and no longer are outings the only occasion to consider what to wear. During our time at home, feeling good and looking good are equally weighted as we seek items that are comfortable and practical, existing in true harmony.

We've put together some of our favourite 'at home' pieces and curated them on our online store. Practicality, comfort and style are what define the perfect pieces to wear at home.
